Central Europe – Second appointment of Auxiliary Visitor

Br Armin Luistro, Superior General,  has confirmed, for the second time Br Peter Magač as Auxiliary Visitor of the District of Central Europe. His mandate will be effective from July 2022 until 1 May 2026.

Brother Peter Magač has been a Brother for 25 years and holds a degree in Physics and Chemistry. Raised in a very religious family, he felt at a very early age the desire to improve Catholic schools in Slovakia, his home country, although he did not want to become a priest. He therefore decided to join the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Brother Peter, born in 1975, took the habit in 1995, his first vows in 1996 and pronounced his perpetual vows in 2002.

As Auxiliary Visitor he supports Brother Vicentiu Ghiurca, Visitor of the District. Having been a member of the most important structures of the District for the last ten years, and Coordinator of the Sector of Slovakia, he knows the reality around him very well, and will certainly continue to make an important contribution to the strengthening of the Lasallian educational mission in his context.

The entire Central European District consists of seven countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia), with the northernmost part of the Netherlands being 1800 km from the southernmost part of our District in Romania. In total, five different languages are spoken in the District of Central Europe, more than 4,100 students attend our eight schools with 700 teachers and educators. The District of Central Europe is part of RELEM and consists of four areas: Austria (including Hungary and the Czech Republic), the Netherlands, Romania and Slovakia. The District is in close contact with the schools in Germany, now run by the Augsburg diocese. About 40 Brothers live in the District.
