The Brothers of the Christian Schools in communion with the Lasallian communities in the Holy Land, and in partnership with the International Association of Lasallian Universities (IALU) and the La Salle Foundation, we unite ourselves to the intentions of Pope Francis for the end of the war, through the realization of a Prayer for Peace in the Holy Land.
This prayerful moment will take place next Wednesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. (Rome time), in virtual mode, through the Facebook account LaSalleOrg (https://www.facebook.com/lasalleorg), and in person in Rome, for those who are able, at the Generalate (Via Aurelia 476) from 6:30 p.m.
We are convinced that “prayer is the meek and holy force to oppose the diabolical force of hatred, terrorism and war”, as the Pope said after the Angelus on Sunday, October 15. We must do everything in our power so that “let no more innocent blood be shed” in the Holy Land, and “humanitarian law is to be respected,” as the Bishop of Rome emphasized.
Through prayer, we Lasallians want to express our fraternity with the victims of war and, in a special way, our closeness and solidarity with the Lasallians of the five communities in the Holy Land (four schools and a university), whom we continue to accompany.
For its part, La Salle Foundation joins international calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and opposes the forced evacuation of the Gaza Strip, advocating the establishment of humanitarian channels for the care and protection of human life.
