On 7 March 2023, Brother Francisco Jesús Ordónez Vidondo (Patxo), received the Official Cross of the Order of Isabel la Católica, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, in the name of His Majesty King Felipe VI.
The reason for the honour was his valuable work in strengthening relations between Spain and Israel in recent years.
The award fills with pride all those who know the Brother and La Salle as an institution whose mission is to give of itself to the most needy in the places where it carries out its work. In his speech at the awarding of this well-deserved award, the Brother, who had words for all those who have been honoured or distinguished with this cross or the Cross of Civil Merit in other cases, recalled his work at the La Salle School in Jaffa, where there is great human, cultural and religious diversity.
On the occasion, he also recalled his Jewish and Christian origins, in a distant mixture that is more present in his life today than ever before.
