The 22nd of November saw the inauguration of De La Salle College Ananindeua, in the State of Pará, Brazil. The site covers more than 51,300 square metres, and to begin with the establishment will cater for children up the 5th year of Basic Education. Enrollments are already taking place for the year 2020 and classes will start in January.
The inauguration was attended by around 100 guests, including representatives of the Municipal Authorities, the Leadership of the Red La Salle, the Brothers and Lasallian colleagues. Also present for the ceremony was the Metropolitan Archbishop of Belén, Mgr. Alberto Taveira, who blessed the new establishment.
The event started with a presentation about the Red La Salle, which included a video on the College, the main features of the education it offers and its organisation. That was followed by a tour of the property and a celebratory reception. Guests were then given the chance to have guided visits to particular parts of the College.
The new College will provide a quality education in line with the pedagogical principles of St. John Baptist de La Salle, and thus it will be part of the Lasallian presence in the north of Brazil, joining the other Lasallian establishment that already exists in the town of Ananindeua.
In the words of Brother Olavo José Dalvit, Visitor of the District of Brazil-Chile,
“Our establishment is special and it offers families the chance to have an education with a difference, based on Christian values and morality relating to the whole of society”.
